Loop Head Peninsula is surrounded by the River Shannon to the South side, and by the Atlantic Ocean to the North. Nature has created the most majestic scenery, the rugged beauty of the area has remained unspoilt into the twenty-first century - so much so that the area can boast of having the purest air in Europe, as confirmed by research carried out by a team of scientists from Dortmund University. It is the ideal place for a relaxing break, away from all the stress of modern life. Loop Head Scenic Drive will take you to numerous scenic outlooks. Dolphins, whales and seals appear regularly on and around Loop Head Peninsula. A variety of rare birds, like skuas, storm petrels and shearwaters can be seen flying past and attract birdwatchers from near and far.
The many other sights along the West Coast of County Clare - the Cliffs of Moher, the Aran Islands and the remarkable landscape of the Burren are all well worth a visit and not far away. Ennis with its attractive narrow shopping streets, the Glor Irish Music centre and the Clare museum, Bunratty Castle and Folk Park and - last not least - the Shannon River and Lough Derg offer plenty more possibilities for our guests to choose from.
Kilkee is 10 mins. away and one of the country's most popular resorts with quite a few natural amenities around its horseshoe-shaped bay. The safe sheltered sandy beach is protected by Duggerna Reef, which is a natural wonder itself with some large and small rock pools full of marine life. Breathtaking cliff walks offer splendid scenery. This Cliff scenery all along to Loop Head Lighthouse is one of Kilkee's greatest natural attractions.
